My primary nickname is KAction, which dates back to age when I believed that KDE – huge, bloated and buggy mess of C++ code – is cool. Given that I have number of valuable accounts of this name, I am quite stuck with this name.
The main reason I have account on Github1 is to make pull requests to projects that have elaborate workflow, tied to Github, like Stackage or Nixpkgs. In less formalized situations, I prefer to just send patch to maintainer via email.
In theory, Gitlab is better then Github – it is mostly Free Software. In practice, there is little difference – same awkward interface, tailored to button smashing, with scripting and console interfaces supported as afterthought, if at all. Still, after Debian Alioth was decomissioned, I needed new home to my project, and I decided to move to Gitlab23. I am still looking for something better.
After some search, I found perfect place for hosting my code – SourceHut4. It’s API is nice and simple, it includes CI system and, what is dealbreaker, mailing lists service. While this service it in alpha stage and gratis to use for now, I decided to go for “Amateur Hacker” plan. Because it is the right thing to do.
Sometimes I use StackOverflow5 – exclusively to ask, not to answer. Sometimes it helps, but often it does not.
Telegram – both for messaging6 and for blogging7. Now I prefer to keep blogging here.
Keybase8 – essenially, more advanced version of this page, with links to other my accounts. Unfortunately, keybase lacks intergration with some services, like Telegram or SourceHut.
There is my old website9, but I lost access to it during events10, related to criminal charges and Tor exit node.
